Job description

micro1 is seeking experienced Agentic AI Experts to help advance next-generation AI systems capable of autonomous software engineering workflows. In this remote contractor role, you will collaborate with AI coding agents, evaluate AI-generated code, design effective agent workflows, and provide expert feedback that improves AI reasoning, coding performance, and development automation.

No prior experience working in AI is required—strong technical expertise and experience collaborating with modern AI coding assistants are the primary qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Agentic AI Workflows

  • Utilize autonomous AI coding agents to execute complex software engineering workflows.
  • Plan and coordinate multi-step development tasks in collaboration with AI systems.
  • Document end-to-end workflows and implementation decisions.

Software Engineering

  • Implement, debug, optimize, and refactor production-quality code alongside AI agents.
  • Validate AI-generated implementations for correctness, maintainability, and efficiency.
  • Explain technical decisions and provide detailed rationale for improvements.

AI Evaluation

  • Evaluate AI-generated code for:
    • Correctness
    • Code quality
    • Architecture
    • Performance
    • Maintainability
    • Security considerations
  • Identify bugs, hallucinations, logical errors, and incomplete implementations.
  • Compare outputs from multiple AI systems and document differences in reasoning quality and coding capability.

Documentation & Best Practices

  • Develop documentation describing effective AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Produce reproducible prompt strategies and workflow guidance.
  • Recommend best practices for collaborating with AI coding assistants.
  • Provide structured feedback on agentic development environments and automation tools.

Practical Exercises

  • Participate in hands-on technical exercises demonstrating effective use of AI-powered software engineering workflows.
  • Help improve future AI development environments through expert evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delegating multi-step engineering tasks to AI systems.
  • Strong prompt engineering skills.
  • Familiarity with AI collaboration workflows.
  • Professional background in one or more of:
    • Software Engineering
    • DevOps
    • Machine Learning Engineering
    • Data Science
    • Technical Automation
  • Experience with AI development tools such as:
    • Codex
    • GitHub Copilot
    • Claude Code

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Experience evaluating or comparing multiple AI coding systems.
