Role Overview

Mercor is hiring experienced Music Audio Experts (Portuguese) to evaluate generative music AI models in partnership with a leading AI research lab. In this remote contract role, you will assess AI-generated music, lyrics, vocals, and audio quality in Portuguese, helping improve next-generation music generation systems through expert evaluation and structured feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate AI-Generated Music

  • Assess AI-generated music across multiple musical genres and styles.
  • Evaluate lyrics, vocal generation, composition quality, and overall musical performance.
  • Review AI outputs for creativity, coherence, and instruction-following.

Score Music Training Data

  • Rate the quality of musical datasets and AI-generated content.
  • Apply structured evaluation criteria to ensure consistent, high-quality annotations.
  • Provide detailed feedback to improve AI-generated music.

Apply Music Expertise

  • Evaluate music using knowledge of music theory, composition, production, and lyrical writing.
  • Assess melody, harmony, rhythm, arrangement, production quality, and vocal performance.
  • Use professional judgment to identify strengths and weaknesses in AI-generated outputs.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a:
    • Music Producer
    • Audio Engineer
    • Sound Mixer
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Music Theory
    • Musical Performance
    • Songwriting
    • Lyrics
  • College degree in Music or a related discipline covering performance, theory, and composition.
  • Experience writing lyrical music in Portuguese.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in both Portuguese and English.

Compensation

  • $26 per hour
