Job description
AfterQuery is seeking Legal Experts to help train and evaluate frontier AI systems on complex legal reasoning. In this fully remote contract role, you will create realistic legal scenarios, evaluate AI-generated legal analyses, identify reasoning flaws, and develop high-quality reference answers and grading rubrics that improve AI performance across a wide range of legal topics.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Legal Evaluation Tasks
Create challenging legal prompts and case scenarios that test AI models on real-world legal reasoning across multiple practice areas.
Evaluate AI Responses
Review AI-generated legal analyses for:
- Legal accuracy
- Logical reasoning
- Application of legal principles
- Citation quality
- Completeness and clarity
Identify Legal Errors
Detect issues such as:
- Fabricated or incorrect citations
- Misapplied statutes or case law
- Faulty legal reasoning
- Unsupported conclusions
- Missing legal analysis
Create Reference Solutions
Draft expert-level model answers, explanations, and legal analyses that serve as high-quality ground truth for AI training.
Build Evaluation Rubrics
Design structured grading criteria to consistently assess the quality and correctness of AI-generated legal responses.
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong legal education or professional legal experience.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to identify subtle legal reasoning errors.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Interest in AI, legal technology, or model evaluation.
Compensation
- $50–$200 per hour (project-dependent)
