Job description
Mercor is partnering with a leading frontier AI research laboratory on an advanced mathematics project focused on improving AI reasoning capabilities.
The project seeks individuals with demonstrated expertise in Olympiad-level mathematics, mathematical problem writing, and competition mathematics.
Ideal candidates include:
- IMO medalists
- IMO participants
- National Olympiad participants
- Olympiad problem setters
- Selection committee members
- Advanced competition mathematicians
Contributors will help train frontier AI systems to solve and reason through mathematics problems at Olympiad level and beyond.
This is a short-term, high-impact research engagement with the possibility of extension based on performance.
Key Responsibilities
Problem Creation
- Write original Olympiad-level mathematics problems
- Design advanced challenges capable of testing frontier AI systems
- Maintain high standards of:
- Difficulty
- Originality
- Mathematical rigor
Solution Review & Evaluation
Evaluate AI-generated solutions
Assess:
- Correctness
- Clarity
- Mathematical style
- Proof quality
Identify:
- Logical flaws
- Gaps in reasoning
- Incomplete proofs
- Invalid assumptions
Mathematical Reasoning
- Provide complete and rigorous solutions
- Produce clear mathematical explanations
- Develop correct chains of reasoning
- Ensure mathematical precision throughout all work
Compensation
This engagement uses a pay-per-task model.
Compensation depends on:
- Problem difficulty

- Efficiency
- Task complexity
