Research mathematicians are needed to help train and evaluate frontier AI systems capable of advanced mathematical reasoning. Responsibilities include authoring research-level problems, evaluating proofs, identifying model failures, and contributing expert mathematical insight across pure and applied mathematics domains.
Mathematics Researchers (India, Part-time)
Job description
Description
We are recruiting a select cohort of accomplished mathematicians to contribute to the next generation of AI systems for scientific and mathematical reasoning.
Partner AI labs are building models that must reason about pure and applied mathematics at the level of working research mathematicians, not textbook exercises. Areas of interest include:
- Number Theory
- Algebra
- Algebraic Geometry
- Topology
- Analysis
- Partial Differential Equations (PDEs)
- Probability
- Combinatorics
- Dynamical Systems
- Logic
- Representation Theory
- Mathematical Physics
- Theoretical Computer Science
- Statistics
What You'll Do
Author and review challenging mathematics problems used to train and evaluate frontier AI models
Evaluate model outputs involving:
- Proof construction
- Proof verification
- Mathematical problem solving
- Formalization
- Conjecture exploration
Identify subtle mathematical errors that current AI systems often miss, including:
- Unjustified proof steps
- Misapplied assumptions
- Invalid lemmas
- Plausible but incorrect proofs
Collaborate with program teams and fellow mathematical researchers
