Job description

Role Overview

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI organization to engage practicing attorneys in improving the legal reasoning capabilities of advanced AI systems.

This flexible, contract-based opportunity involves reviewing, evaluating, and refining AI-generated legal content to improve accuracy, clarity, and usefulness across a variety of legal domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and refine AI-generated legal outputs for accuracy, clarity, and legal soundness
  • Evaluate legal reasoning across multiple practice areas
  • Verify legal claims against primary legal authority including statutes, regulations, case law, and official guidance
  • Collaborate with researchers to assess and improve AI model performance
  • Provide expert legal feedback to improve legal reasoning and analysis capabilities

Ideal Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
  • Active U.S. bar license in good standing
  • 3+ years of legal practice experience
  • Client-facing or matter-facing advisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to locate, interpret, and cite primary legal authority

Preferred Background

  • Generalist legal experience or exposure to multiple practice areas
  • Strong legal research skills and ability to write clearly in plain language
  • Comfortable researching outside a primary area of specialization

Contract & Payment Terms

  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote, asynchronous work, flexible scheduling
  • $100-$200/hour — weekly payments through Stripe Connect
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on business needs and performance
