Annotator - Audio & Speech Processing

Job Summary

Turing is seeking detail-oriented Audio Annotators to support the development of speech recognition systems, voice assistants, machine learning models, and AI applications.

In this role, you will listen to audio recordings and perform annotation, transcription, categorization, and quality review tasks according to project guidelines. Your work will help improve the accuracy and performance of AI systems that process speech and audio data.

Key Responsibilities

• Listen to audio recordings and annotate content according to project requirements
• Transcribe speech accurately, including spoken words, pauses, background noise, speaker changes, and unclear speech indicators
• Label audio segments based on categories such as speech, music, silence, noise, emotion, intent, and speaker identity
• Mark timestamps for specific audio events and segments
• Review and correct annotations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality compliance
• Follow project-specific annotation guidelines and quality standards
• Report unclear audio, technical issues, and annotation guideline ambiguities to project leads
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive or personal audio content
• Meet assigned productivity and accuracy targets

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong listening and comprehension skills
• Strong command of the required language or dialect
• Good typing and transcription abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to follow detailed annotation guidelines and instructions
• Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with online tools
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in audio transcription, data annotation, audio labeling, or quality review
• Familiarity with AI, speech recognition, or machine learning workflows

Engagement Details

• Contractor engagement, fully remote
• Duration: 2 weeks
• Minimum 4 hours per day, 30 hours per week
• Must overlap at least 4 hours with Pacific Time (PST)
