Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer About the Role We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more accurate AI — and we need environmental engineers to make it happen.
Environmental Engineering - AI Data Trainer
Job description
Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer
About the Role
We're looking for environmental engineering experts to help train and improve cutting-edge AI models. Your deep technical knowledge — from water treatment to air quality to hazardous waste remediation — will directly shape how AI reasons through complex environmental problems.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of environmental science and artificial intelligence, contributing to some of the most advanced language models being built today.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Complex Problems — Create advanced environmental engineering challenges spanning contaminant transport, mass balance in treatment plants, hydrology, and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to stress-test AI reasoning
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions — including chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and pollutant dispersion simulations — that serve as reference-quality "golden responses"
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, regulatory compliance (EPA, ISO 14001), and safety
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry in biological processes or failure to account for secondary environmental impacts, and provide structured feedback to improve model quality
- Work Independently — Complete task-based assignments on your own schedule with full remote flexibility
Who You Are
- Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (with environmental focus), or a closely related field
- Strong foundational knowledge in at least one core area: aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediation
- Able to communicate complex engineering and ecological concepts clearly and precisely in writing
- High attention to detail — especially for unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory compliance logic
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on technical tasks
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems
- Familiarity with environmental modeling software (e.g., AERMOD, SWMM, GoldSim)
- Background in EHS compliance or environmental impact assessment
Why Join Us
