Applied Formal Methods Researcher (Lean 4) About the Role What if your deep mathematical training could directly shape how AI reasons about the hardest problems in mathematics?
Mechanical Engineering Expert - AI Content Specialist
Job description
Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for mechanical engineering specialists to help train and improve cutting-edge AI models. Your technical expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and beyond.
This is a rare opportunity to apply your advanced engineering knowledge in a high-impact, flexible freelance role — no prior AI experience needed.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-step problems across domains such as FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, fluid mechanics, kinematics, and material science to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that AI systems use as reference standards for learning
- Audit Technical Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
- Identify & Correct Reasoning Failures — Spot logical errors in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed material assumptions — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
- Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core domains: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and mathematical derivations clearly and concisely in writing
- Highly detail-oriented — precise when checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical content development
- Proficiency with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Experience reviewing or generating technical documentation to industry standards
Why Join Us
- Work on some of the most technically demanding AI projects in the industry alongside top research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — structure your work around your schedule
- Freelance autonomy: choose your hours, work independently, and collaborate globally
- Make a meaningful contribution to how AI reasons about the physical world
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as projects evolve
