Mechanical Engineering Expert - AI Content Specialist
Job description
Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and improve the next generation of AI models. Your deep technical knowledge will directly shape how AI reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics to structural mechanics — making a real impact on the future of intelligent systems.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your expertise becomes the benchmark for AI excellence.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Engineering Problems — Create challenging, multi-domain problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as authoritative benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
- Audit AI Technical Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated outputs — including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications — for accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards such as ASME and ISO
- Refine AI Thinking — Identify logical errors in AI reasoning (e.g., incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations) and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
- Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical concepts clearly and concisely in writing
- Highly precise when working with mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous environment
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or AI evaluation workflows
- Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Background in technical writing or engineering documentation
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with world-leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
- Contribute to meaningful work that advances how AI understands engineering and the physical world
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
