Job description

Mercor is recruiting U.K.-based Software Engineers to contribute to a research project with a leading foundational AI model laboratory.

This role focuses on helping develop high-quality training data for frontier AI systems alongside experienced software engineers and technical researchers.

The position is fully remote, project-based, and designed for experienced engineers with strong professional backgrounds in modern software development environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the creation of high-quality training data for frontier AI systems

  • Collaborate with teams of:

    • Senior software engineers
    • AI researchers
    • Technical specialists

  • Apply real-world software engineering expertise to support AI training and evaluation workflows

  • Participate in project-based technical tasks requiring strong engineering judgment and practical experience

  • Support the development of reliable and realistic engineering-focused AI systems

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of full-time software engineering experience

  • Professional experience at a major technology company such as:

    • Slack
    • Notion
    • Stripe
    • Figma
    • Similar large-scale technology organizations

  • Currently based in the United Kingdom

  • Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week

  • Strong technical problem-solving and engineering fundamentals

Vetting Process

The hiring process includes:

Compensation

  • $130–170/hour
