Role Overview
AfterQuery is seeking experienced Commercial Real Estate Attorneys with expertise in energy project development and power-grid interconnection compliance.
In this project-based remote role, you will review historical PJM and US East Coast power-generation interconnection applications for site-control compliance. You will analyze complex real estate and energy infrastructure documentation and produce structured legal reasoning to support AI-powered legal workflows and regulatory analysis systems.
This role is ideal for attorneys with deep familiarity in commercial real estate conveyance documents, energy infrastructure projects, and regulatory compliance review.
Key Responsibilities
- Review historical PJM and US East Coast power-generation interconnection applications
- Evaluate:
- Deeds
- Leases
- Easements
- Purchase options
- Amendments
- Payment evidence
- Related site-control agreements
- Assess compliance with:
- Conveyance requirements
- Term requirements
- Exclusivity provisions
- Site-control standards
- Produce structured annotations and legal reasoning for each reviewed application
- Provide precise legal citations including:
- Document names
- Page references
- Bounding boxes
- Verbatim supporting text
- Identify:
- Deficiencies
- Ambiguities
- Non-compliance issues
- Document findings in standardized formats suitable for regulatory and downstream review workflows
Required Skills & Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active U.S. bar membership in good standing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in:
- Commercial real estate law
- Energy project development
- PJM or power-grid interconnection matters
- Deep familiarity with:
- Deeds
- Leases
- Easements
- Options agreements
- Conveyance documentation
- Strong legal reasoning and analytical skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to independently conduct document-intensive legal review tasks
- U.S.-based candidate required
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with:
- PJM interconnection processes
- FERC regulations
- US East Coast energy permitting
- Familiarity with:
- Utility-scale solar projects
- Battery storage projects
- Wind-energy site-control compliance
- Experience with:

Work Details
