Senior / Staff Software Engineer (C++ Backend + Windows/Excel COM Automation)
About Turing
Turing is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer with strong C++ backend expertise to build a production-grade Excel execution platform for a Fortune 500 financial services client. In this full-time remote role, you will develop Windows-based backend services that automate Microsoft Excel workbooks with COM/VSTO add-ins, enabling reliable server-side execution while preserving desktop Office behavior.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade backend services primarily using C++
- Develop Windows services that automate Microsoft Excel execution
- Build an execution engine capable of opening Excel workbooks, loading COM/VSTO add-ins, executing calculations, capturing structured outputs, and publishing versioned results to cloud storage
- Build session-isolated Windows worker processes with scheduling, concurrency control, retry mechanisms, failure recovery, and distributed workload processing
- Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure
- Diagnose performance, reliability, and interoperability issues
Required Qualifications
- 6-16 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong production experience with C++, backend development, REST APIs, concurrency, multithreading, performance optimization
- Strong Windows development experience
- Experience with Microsoft Excel Automation, COM Automation, VSTO, Office Interop
- Experience with distributed processing and resilient service architectures
- Experience deploying applications on Microsoft Azure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python, VBA, Capital IQ, Bloomberg, FactSet, OpenTelemetry, Terraform
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments
Work Arrangement
