Map & Location Data Analyst (AI Training) About the Role What if knowing your city — its streets, shortcuts, hidden gems, and changing neighborhoods — could directly improve the AI tools that millions of people use to navigate the world every day?
Power BI Analyst & Dashboard Developer
Job description
About the Role
The Power BI Analyst & Dashboard Developer integrates data from company’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR), CRM, survey platforms, and outcome tracking tools into clean, validated dashboards that leadership can actually act on.
This is an analyst role first, developer second. Technical Power BI skill gets you in the door — but your data instincts, validation discipline, and willingness to ask 'does this even make sense?' are what make you successful here.
What You'll Do
Data Validation & Analytical Thinking (Your Primary Focus)
Validate every dataset for plausibility, completeness, and consistency before building — flag outliers, gaps, and improbable distributions
Treat large 'Other,' 'Unknown,' or null buckets as findings to investigate, not defaults to leave alone
Reconcile metrics against operational reality; if a number doesn't match what stakeholders see, stop and investigate
Document data quality findings and ship every dashboard with a written caveat and limitations note
Constructively push back on requests built on flawed assumptions — ask questions before building
Dashboard Development & Reporting
Design and maintain Power BI dashboards for executive, director, and department audiences using DAX, Power Query (M), and solid data modeling
Connect Power BI to source systems via native connectors, REST APIs, ODBC, SQL, and file-based extracts
Build and monitor automated dashboard refreshes; troubleshoot failures fast
Track and report on clinical outcomes, admissions conversion, marketing performance, revenue, and alumni engagement
Translate leadership's business questions into dashboards that support decisions — not just visualizations
Process, Documentation & Collaboration
Document data sources, transformations, refresh schedules, and logic so the work is transferable
Develop ad hoc reports with clearly documented methodology and assumptions
Audit data quality across source systems on a recurring basis
Participate in scheduled calls during Arizona business hours; meet deadlines without daily oversight
Follow all HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Horizon information security protocols strictly
Your First 90-Day Deliverable: Marketing & Lead Analytics Platform
This is a concrete, non-negotiable deliverable — not a stretch goal.
By Day 90, you will have delivered:
• End-to-end lead funnel (inquiry → assessment → admission) with conversion rates and drop-off by stage
• Source and channel attribution for every lead with documented categorization rules
• Lead loss / fallout analysis with categorized reasons (no unexplained 'Other' >10%)
• Marketing spend tracking: cost per lead, cost per qualified lead, cost per admission by channel
• Cohort views by month, campaign, and channel
• A written data dictionary and refresh-schedule document
• Validated, reconciled metrics with documented limitations
• Two structured handoff sessions with the VP of Growth
Who You Are
You instinctively ask 'does this make sense?' before publishing anything
You recognize implausible data, flat trends, and suspiciously clean distributions — and you investigate
You have expert-level Power BI: DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, RLS, Power BI Service
You write efficient SQL and can query against relational databases confidently
You've integrated Power BI with multiple disparate systems (APIs, ODBC, web connectors, file extracts)
You're comfortable with healthcare or behavioral-health data — EMR/EHR exports, CRM pipelines, survey instruments
You communicate clearly in written and spoken English with non-technical executives
You push back constructively when requirements are ambiguous or data is unreliable
You are self-managing, deadline-driven, and proactive when something is at risk
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Health Informatics, or equivalent demonstrated experience
5+ years building production Power BI dashboards used by business leadership, with verifiable references
Microsoft certification preferred (PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst Associate or equivalent)
Documented experience integrating Power BI with at least 3 distinct source systems (e.g., CRM, EMR/EHR, survey platform, financial system)
Proven track record of catching and resolving data quality issues
Reliable high-speed internet (min. 50 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up), backup power, and a private secure home workspace
Ability to work 40 hours/week consistently aligned to Arizona (Mountain Time) business hours
Willingness to sign a BAA, Independent Contractor Agreement, and NDA before any system access
Completion of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 training (with certificate) prior to system access; annual renewal required
Encrypted device, MFA, VPN, no local PHI storage, no personal cloud storage — full compliance with company’s information security policy
