Job description

Mercor is seeking experienced product and visual designers to evaluate design quality for frontier AI systems.

In this role, you will provide expert, well-reasoned assessments of AI-generated designs, focusing on aesthetics, usability, and visual communication. Your expertise will help improve how AI understands and produces high-quality digital product and visual designs.

This opportunity is intended for senior designers with proven experience at top-tier technology companies or design agencies and offers strong potential for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate Design Quality

Review AI-generated designs and provide expert assessments of:

  • Layout
  • Typography
  • Color usage
  • Visual hierarchy
  • Overall polish

Provide Design Feedback

Deliver structured, well-justified critiques explaining design strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.

Apply Professional Design Standards

Evaluate work using modern product design and visual design best practices while maintaining consistency across review tasks.

Support AI Improvement

Help improve frontier AI systems by supplying high-quality design evaluations and aesthetic judgments.

Ideal Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in product design, visual design, or UI/UX design.
  • Professional experience at a top-tier technology company or design agency.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality design work.
  • Excellent understanding of:
    • Layout
    • Typography
    • Color theory
    • Visual hierarchy
    • Interface design
    • Design systems
  • Fluent English communication skills.

Compensation

  • $50–$80 per hour
