Material Science Specialist (AI Training)

About the Role

What if your deep expertise in materials science could directly shape how AI reasons about semiconductors, molecular structures, and the physical world? We're looking for Materials Science specialists — Masters and PhD holders — to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models on complex, real-world problems in your field.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for researchers and domain experts who want to apply their knowledge in a new and impactful way. No prior AI experience needed — just rigorous scientific thinking and command of your discipline.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced materials science problems with real-world relevance
  • Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related specializations to design complex, high-quality problem sets
  • Evaluate AI-generated reasoning and outputs for scientific accuracy, depth, and clarity
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to push model capabilities forward
  • Ensure scientific rigor across all deliverables — from problem design to written explanations

Who You Are

  • Master's or PhD in Materials Science or a closely related field
  • Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent research areas
  • Proficient in Python or MATLAB for research and technical applications
  • Exceptionally clear written and verbal communicator with strong attention to scientific detail
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous, remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Background in computational materials science or materials informatics
  • Experience reviewing or writing for scientific publications or technical documentation
