Alignerr

Science & Research Contractor
Remote (Global) $75 – $90/hr June 26, 2026

Job description

Chemistry Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training

About the Role

What if your deep knowledge of chemistry — built through years of rigorous study and research — could directly shape how AI understands and reasons about science?

We're looking for Chemistry experts with Masters or PhD-level training to help design, solve, and evaluate complex chemistry problems that push the boundaries of what AI can do. Your work will directly influence how next-generation AI models think through organic synthesis, molecular modeling, reaction mechanisms, and more.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role — work on your own schedule, from anywhere.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop advanced chemistry problems with real-world scientific relevance across organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
  • Solve and review complex problem sets, ensuring accuracy, depth, and scientific rigor
  • Apply your domain expertise to create challenging, multi-step problem statements that test genuine chemical reasoning
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve AI model outputs
  • Evaluate AI-generated chemistry content for correctness, clarity, and scientific soundness
  • Deliver high-quality written work that reflects graduate-level chemical understanding

Who You Are

  • Hold a Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
  • Deep expertise in one or more of: organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
  • Comfortable working with Python or computational chemistry tools (e.g., Gaussian, VASP, or similar)
  • Exceptional written communicator — you can explain complex chemistry clearly and precisely
  • Naturally detail-oriented with a rigorous, methodical approach to scientific work
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently in a remote environment
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Background in research, academic publishing, or technical writing
  • Familiarity with cheminformatics tools or molecular simulation software
  • Experience designing problem sets, assessments, or educational content in chemistry

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading AI research labs and teams
  • Fully remote and flexible — set your own hours and work from wherever you choose
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, substantive scientific work
  • Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI understands and reasons about chemistry
  • Training and onboarding support provided — no prior AI experience required
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
