Role Overview
Mercor is seeking surveying and GIS experts to contribute to a benchmark dataset project focused on visual document understanding and instruction-following. This role involves designing complex, grounded tasks with clearly defined ground-truth outputs and objective evaluation rubrics for AI benchmarking.
Responsibilities
- Author complex evaluation tasks in the surveying and GIS domain
- Work with visual and document-based inputs (e.g., maps, survey plans, GIS layers, spatial datasets)
- Define clear and verifiable ground-truth answers
- Design objective evaluation rubrics for AI benchmarking tasks
- Evaluate AI model outputs for correctness and instruction adherence
- Ensure tasks are realistic, structured, and domain-grounded
- Support dataset quality for AI training and evaluation systems
Engagement Details
- Part-time contract — fully remote
- Approximately 15–20 hours per week, flexible schedule
- Project-based assignment
- US and Canada-based candidates only
Compensation & Payment
- $50/hour — weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
- Independent contractor engagement; no H-1B or STEM OPT support
