Role Overview
Turing is seeking Phylogenetics Experts to review AI training problems and research environments developed for a frontier AI laboratory.
This role focuses on evaluating the quality, realism, and scientific validity of phylogenetics-related tasks rather than solving them.
Experts will assess whether tasks are:
- Scientifically accurate
- Realistic and representative of the field
- Properly designed
- Correctly graded
- Suitable for AI training and evaluation
Typical tasks require approximately 30-90 minutes to complete.
Responsibilities
- Review AI training problems related to phylogenetics
- Assess scientific accuracy and biological validity
- Evaluate whether tasks reflect realistic phylogenetic research scenarios
- Determine whether grading criteria are appropriate and correct
- Identify issues involving scientific reasoning, problem design, evaluation methodology, and task clarity
- Provide detailed annotations and constructive feedback
- Help improve AI training and evaluation environments
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Phylogenetics, Evolutionary Biology, Computational Biology, or a related discipline
OR
- 4+ years of professional experience in phylogenetics
