Job description

Biotech Health Data Governance Lead (AI Training)

About the Role

What if your expertise in biotech data governance could directly shape how AI understands and works with clinical and research data at the frontier of life sciences? We're looking for a Biotech Health Data Governance Lead to ensure that the research and clinical trial data powering next-generation AI models is accurate, traceable, compliant, and ready for scientific discovery and regulatory scrutiny.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for experienced professionals in biotech, life sciences, or regulated data environments. If you've spent your career making complex scientific data trustworthy and usable, this is your opportunity to bring that expertise to one of the most consequential applications of AI today.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Govern biotech research and clinical trial data to ensure accuracy, lineage, and full auditability for scientific analysis and regulatory submissions
  • Define and enforce data policies covering classification, access controls, security, and metadata standards across research, clinical, regulatory, and partner teams
  • Enable secure, governed data access for analytics, innovation, and external collaborations — while protecting confidential and patient-related information
  • Collaborate with scientific, IT, compliance, and business stakeholders to align data standards, workflows, and governance frameworks
  • Identify data quality gaps and implement processes to ensure data integrity across the research data lifecycle
  • Support the development of annotation, evaluation, and data quality systems that feed into AI model training pipelines

Who You Are

  • Experienced in leading or implementing data governance programs in biotech, life sciences, clinical research, or other regulated data environments
  • Deeply familiar with data privacy, security, and compliance expectations for research and clinical trial data — including relevant regulatory frameworks
  • A skilled cross-functional collaborator who can bridge scientific, technical, compliance, and business teams around shared data standards
  • Detail-oriented and systematic — you understand that data governance is the foundation everything else is built on
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous, remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or AI training evaluation systems
  • Familiarity with clinical data standards such as CDISC, HL7, or FHIR
  • Background in regulatory submissions or experience supporting FDA, EMA, or similar agency requirements
  • Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines or experience governing data used in model development

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs and life sciences organizations
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, high-impact work
  • Contribute directly to AI initiatives that are advancing the future of biotech and scientific research
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
