About the Role
Mercor is seeking experienced CAD professionals to participate in ScreenSpot Plus, a specialized project focused on capturing screenshots from professional CAD software, annotating user interface elements, and creating realistic task instructions for AI training and evaluation.
You will work with industry-standard CAD tools to document authentic engineering and design workflows, helping build datasets that improve AI understanding of professional software environments.
The project begins with a pilot phase where submissions are reviewed for quality before contributors move into full production.
Key Responsibilities
Capture CAD Software Screenshots
- Capture high-quality screenshots from professional CAD applications during realistic workflows
- Ensure screenshots accurately reflect real-world engineering and design activities
- Follow project capture standards and documentation guidelines
Annotate User Interface Elements
Identify and annotate buttons, menus, toolbars, panels, dialog boxes, navigation elements, and interactive controls with consistency and accuracy.
Create Task Instructions
- Write clear, natural-language instructions describing CAD workflows
- Document realistic engineering and design tasks
- Ensure instructions reflect expert-level software usage
Participate in Quality Review
- Incorporate reviewer feedback during the pilot phase
- Improve submissions to meet project standards
- Maintain high accuracy and consistency across deliverables
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Professional hands-on experience with CAD software
- Strong understanding of CAD user interfaces and workflows
- Excellent attention to detail and strong written English communication
Supported CAD Platforms
Experience with one or more of: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, Revit, Siemens NX, or similar professional CAD platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering, architecture, manufacturing, or product design background
- Experience creating technical documentation
- Familiarity with software testing, quality assurance, or UI evaluation projects
Contract and Payment Terms
- Engaged as an independent contractor.
- Fully remote — complete on your own schedule.
- Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
- Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
- Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
