Job description
Mercor is hiring experienced Electrical Engineering Experts with strong semiconductor design and tapeout backgrounds to support advanced AI hardware initiatives for a leading Silicon Valley AI laboratory.
This role focuses on contributing real-world semiconductor and silicon engineering expertise toward AI systems trained on hardware engineering workflows and chip development processes.
Contributors will support tasks involving:
- Analog and mixed-signal design
- RFIC systems
- ASIC workflows
- Physical design
- Verification and validation
- Tapeout methodologies
Key Responsibilities
Contribute expertise across:
- Analog design
- Mixed-signal design
- RFIC workflows
- ASIC implementation
- Physical design systems
Review:
- Semiconductor architectures
- Silicon implementation methodologies
- Hardware design tradeoffs
Support tasks involving:
- Tapeout flows
- Timing closure
- Verification
- Silicon validation
- Pre-silicon development
- Post-silicon development
Assist in evaluating and improving AI systems trained on semiconductor engineering workflows
Provide technical insight based on production silicon experience
Required Qualifications
Hands-on ownership of semiconductor blocks or systems through tapeout
Experience with advanced semiconductor PDKs such as:
- TSMC
- GlobalFoundries
- Samsung
- Intel
Familiarity with:
- Pre-silicon workflows
- Post-silicon workflows
- Silicon bring-up
Strong understanding of:
- Schematic design
- Simulation
- Verification
- DRC/LVS
- Parasitic extraction
- Timing analysis
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Analog / Mixed-Signal Design

Preferred Qualifications
Production silicon experience preferred over academic-only work
Experience taping out RF designs at GHz/mmWave frequencies
Strong understanding of:
- Power tradeoffs
- Performance optimization
- Timing tradeoffs
- Hardware architecture decisions
Experience with:
- Advanced-node semiconductor designs
- AI accelerators
- High-performance compute systems
- AI hardware platforms
Role Details
Estimated commitment:
- 15–20 hours/week
Compensation:
- Approximately $100/hour
Contract & Payment Terms
- Independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote work
- Flexible schedule
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded depending on business needs and performance
