Job description

As an Insurance Underwriter – Excess & Specialty, you will apply underwriting expertise to help train next-generation AI systems.

This role focuses on commercial and specialty insurance workflows, helping AI models understand:

  • Excess casualty underwriting
  • Specialty risk evaluation
  • Liability coverage analysis
  • Policy interpretation
  • Insurance compliance

No prior AI experience is required. Insurance underwriting expertise is the primary qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate complex commercial and specialty insurance risk scenarios within the US insurance market

  • Analyze and structure coverage for:

    • Excess lines
    • Specialty insurance
    • Liability coverage
    • Umbrella policies
  • Interpret policy language and provide detailed coverage analysis

  • Identify:

    • Risk factors
    • Coverage gaps
    • Compliance concerns

using sound underwriting judgment.

  • Ensure alignment with:

    • Insurance standards
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Commercial underwriting practices
  • Support AI training initiatives by contributing real-world underwriting expertise and operational insights

  • Collaborate remotely with distributed teams through:

    • Written communication
    • Verbal communication
    • Structured underwriting feedback

    • Specialty insurance trends
    • Excess market developments

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 4–5 years of underwriting experience in:

    • Commercial insurance
    • Specialty insurance
    • Excess casualty
    • Umbrella products
  • Strong expertise in:

    • Commercial P&C
    • Liability coverage
    • Coverage analysis
    • Insurance operations
  • Deep understanding of:

    • Policy interpretation
    • Insurance compliance
    • Underwriting workflows
  • Experience working within:

    • US insurance markets
    • US insurance standards
    • US commercial frameworks
  • Excellent:
