Role Overview

Turing is seeking Chemistry Experts to contribute to AI model fine-tuning and evaluation projects involving advanced chemistry reasoning and scientific problem-solving.

In this role, you will solve postgraduate-level chemistry problems, create detailed explanations, and help improve large language models through structured scientific analysis and annotations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve advanced chemistry problems with detailed step-by-step explanations
  • Work with chemistry content involving:
  • Chemical equations
  • Reaction mechanisms
  • Diagrams and structures
  • Thermodynamic and equilibrium systems
  • Analyze and explain:
  • Organic reaction mechanisms
  • Stoichiometry
  • Thermodynamics
  • Electrochemistry
  • Chemical equilibrium problems
  • Create multimodal explanations combining:
  • Text
  • Visuals
  • Simulations
  • Annotated structures
  • Provide detailed annotations and constructive feedback for AI training workflows

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, PhD, or ongoing PhD/Postdoctoral studies in:
  • Chemistry
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Biochemistry
  • Related fields
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to explain complex chemistry concepts clearly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in remote environments
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent work
  • Reliable computer and internet connection

Required Technical Tool Experience

Candidates should be proficient in at least three of the following:

  • GROMACS
  • LAMMPS
  • Psi4
  • PySCF
  • xtb
  • crest
  • Multiwfn
  • Cantera
  • CoolProp
  • NWChem
  • PyBaMM
  • RDKit
  • Open Babel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI training or evaluation workflows
  • Familiarity with scientific computing and chemistry simulation tools
  • Strong problem-solving and structured reasoning abilities

Work Details

  • Fully remote contractor assignment
  • 40 hours/week
  • Minimum 4 hours PST overlap required
  • Contract duration: 11 weeks
  • Potential extension based on performance and project needs
