Role Overview
Mercor is recruiting experienced Transactional or Regulatory Associates to support an AI research lab building benchmarks for evaluating how AI systems perform on real-world legal research tasks.
In this role, you will design practitioner-level research questions that mirror real legal problems encountered in transactional and regulatory practice. These questions will help evaluate AI systems on their ability to analyze statutory and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft practitioner-level legal research questions related to:
- Corporate transactions
- Securities regulation
- Administrative law
- Compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Incorporate jurisdiction-specific statutory and regulatory interpretation
- Frame issues requiring synthesis of:
- Statutory text
- Agency guidance
- Case law
- Legislative history where relevant
- Ensure questions reflect real client matters rather than academic hypotheticals
- Contribute to evaluation datasets used to test advanced AI legal reasoning
Requirements
- 4–7+ years of law firm experience in transactional or regulatory practice
- Strong background in statutory and regulatory interpretation
- Experience researching federal and/or state regulatory frameworks
- Ability to clearly define and scope legal research issues
- Strong analytical and legal writing skills

Contract & Payment Terms
