DevSecOps Engineer
Job description
We are seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to help operate and secure cloud infrastructure for a leading digital health technology company.
You will work alongside senior engineers and an InfoSec team to maintain HIPAA-regulated AWS environments, automate secure delivery pipelines, and ensure production systems are observable, resilient, and secure.
This is a full-time W-2 contingent role through Cincinnatus LLC, with placement into a leading healthcare technology organization as part of its extended engineering workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Operations
Maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
Build modular and reusable infrastructure components across:
- VPC
- EC2
- ECS
- EKS
- IAM
- S3
- SQS
Ensure compliance with HIPAA-regulated production environments
Security Engineering & DevSecOps
Partner with InfoSec teams to integrate and manage security tools such as:
- Semgrep
- Checkov
- Lacework
Embed security scanning into CI/CD pipelines
Automation & Engineering
- Build automation scripts using Python or Node.js to reduce operational toil
- Improve system reliability through self-healing and auto-scaling configurations
- Strengthen CI/CD pipelines for secure and efficient deployments
Monitoring & Incident Response
Monitor infrastructure using:
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- LGTM stack
Participate in:
- On-call rotations
- Incident response
- Blameless post-mortems
AI-Assisted Engineering
- Use AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) to assist with infrastructure development and review
Core Qualifications
Hands-on AWS experience across:
- VPC
- EC2
- ECS
- IAM
- S3
- SQS
Strong Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code experience
Proficiency in Python or Node.js scripting
Solid understanding of network security and VPC architecture
Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines
Familiarity with SAST, DAST, or CSPM tools
Experience with logging and monitoring systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HIPAA, SOC2, or PCI-DSS compliance frameworks
- Kubernetes / EKS operations experience
- GitOps workflows (ArgoCD or Flux)
- AWS certifications
- CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins
