Role Overview

micro1 is seeking Building Code Plans Examiners based in Florida to contribute specialized expertise to a high-impact AI training project.

In this role, you will apply your knowledge of Florida building codes and permitting standards to review architectural and construction documents, assess compliance, and provide structured evaluations that help train next-generation AI systems.

This role is focused on expert judgment and regulatory interpretation rather than AI experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review architectural, structural, and permit documents for compliance with Florida Building Code

  • Evaluate submissions across South Florida jurisdictions including:

    • Palm Beach
    • Broward
    • Miami-Dade
  • Identify:

    • Code compliance issues
    • Regulatory risks
    • Missing documentation or requirements
  • Provide clear, structured documentation of findings with references to applicable codes

  • Summarize whether plans meet local permitting requirements

  • Explain technical requirements in both technical and non-technical language

  • Contribute expert feedback to support AI model training in construction compliance

  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of outputs

  • Regulatory interpretation for Florida jurisdictions
  • Data generation for AI training systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture

  • Active Florida license or certification such as:

    • Standard Plans Examiner License
    • Building Code Administrator License
    • Provisional Plans Examiner License
    • Florida Registered Architect (RA)
    • Florida Professional Engineer (PE)
    • Florida General Contractor (CGC)
  • Strong experience in building code plan review and permitting processes

  • Familiarity with Florida jurisdictions and South Florida permitting standards

  • Experience reviewing construction documents and identifying compliance risks

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical findings to diverse audiences

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Additional Requirements

  • Must be based in Florida (South Florida preferred)
  • Experience with Palm Beach, Broward, or Miami-Dade permitting systems is highly valued
  • Strong analytical and regulatory interpretation skills

Compensation

  • $80–$120/hour
  • Referral bonus available for successful hires
