Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research laboratory to improve the quality of AI-generated document evaluation systems through structured human review.
This role is designed for highly detail-oriented professionals who can critically assess AI-generated responses, identify subtle inaccuracies, and apply strict evaluation guidelines consistently.
You will evaluate structured documents and AI outputs, focusing on precision, nuance, implicit meaning, and fidelity to instructions. Your judgment and attention to detail will directly improve the reliability of AI systems used for document interpretation and reasoning tasks.
Responsibilities
AI Document Evaluation
- Review AI-generated responses for accuracy, fidelity to instructions, completeness of reasoning, and logical consistency
- Identify subtle errors including missing or altered details, misinterpretation of instructions, implicit meaning changes, and inconsistencies in reasoning or structure
Critical Reading & Assessment
- Perform detailed, structured evaluation of written outputs
- Apply strict rubric-based assessment guidelines
- Provide honest and critical judgments when required
- Detect nuanced differences in meaning and intent
Quality Control
- Ensure consistent application of evaluation standards
- Maintain high accuracy across large volumes of document reviews
- Flag ambiguous or low-quality outputs
Feedback & Annotation
- Provide structured written feedback explaining evaluation decisions
- Highlight specific errors or improvements needed
- Contribute to improving annotation guidelines and evaluation frameworks
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred from a globally top-ranked university (top 500)
- Strong reading comprehension and analytical thinking
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to interpret nuanced and implicit meaning
- Strong written communication skills in English (Native-level fluency required)
- Preferred background: paralegal, executive assistant, consulting, investment banking, or legal services
- Minimum 30 hours per week (preferred 40+)
- Must be based in the United States
Contract & Payment
- Independent contractor engagement — fully remote
- Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
- No H-1B or STEM OPT support
