Job Summary
As an Anthropology Quality Assurance Lead (QAL), you will oversee quality, consistency, and contributor performance across anthropology-focused AI training projects.
You will review AI-generated anthropology content, ethnographic analyses, cultural comparisons, archaeology discussions, human evolution explanations, and trainer/QA submissions to ensure outputs are accurate, culturally sensitive, ethically grounded, and aligned with project standards.
Your work will directly contribute to improving advanced AI systems by ensuring anthropology training data reflects sound anthropological reasoning, cultural awareness, and methodological rigor.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Monitoring
- Review anthropology-related tasks and QA outputs
- Identify recurring quality issues, provide detailed written feedback, and escalate critical quality concerns
Anthropology Review
- Review and evaluate anthropology explanations, ethnographic summaries, cultural comparisons, archaeological discussions, human evolution content, kinship analyses, ritual and religion studies, linguistic anthropology content, material culture discussions, and social and cultural reasoning
- Assess work for anthropological accuracy, cultural context, theory application, ethnographic sensitivity, methodological rigor, ethical awareness, bias sensitivity, terminology quality, clarity, instruction adherence, and rubric compliance
Trainer & QA Communication
- Communicate guidelines, workflow changes, quality standards, anthropology review expectations, and evaluation criteria
Contributor Support
- Answer questions involving cultural context, anthropological theory, ethnographic methods, archaeology, human evolution, kinship systems, religion and ritual, representation and ethics, cultural relativism, and rubric interpretation
Activation Management
- Follow up with inactive contributors, track engagement and participation, escalate availability concerns when needed
Documentation & Onboarding
- Create and maintain style guides, documentation, FAQs, quality notes, examples, calibration tasks, and onboarding resources
- Conduct onboarding and training sessions for contributors
Bias & Ethics Review
- Identify and flag cultural stereotyping, ethnocentrism, unsupported generalizations, outdated terminology, methodological weaknesses, weak contextualization, ethically problematic framing, misrepresentation of cultures, and insensitive cultural analysis
Process Improvement
- Improve QA workflows and identify recurring quality gaps
- Develop scalable anthropology review processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, or equivalent background in Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, Sociology, Area Studies, Museum Studies, or related disciplines
- Strong English communication skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in anthropology research, teaching, ethnography, archaeology, museum or heritage work, cultural analysis, academic writing, or fieldwork
- Strong understanding of Anthropological Theory, Cultural Relativism, Ethnographic Methods, Kinship, Ritual, Language & Culture, Material Culture, Human Evolution, Archaeology, and Ethics & Representation
- Ability to identify cultural stereotyping, ethnocentrism, unsupported claims, outdated terminology, methodological flaws, weak contextualization, and ethical concerns
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Ethnography, Participant Observation, Archaeological Methods, Human Origins Research, Kinship Systems, Religion & Ritual Studies, Migration Studies, Colonial & Postcolonial Studies, Indigenous Studies, Museum Ethics, and Linguistic Anthropology
- Experience with AI Training, Data Annotation, LLM Evaluation, Social Science QA, Academic Review, Cultural Sensitivity Review, and Rubric-Based Evaluation
