Sociology Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)

Job Summary
As a Sociology Quality Assurance Lead (QAL), you will oversee quality, consistency, and contributor performance across sociology-focused AI training projects.
You will review AI-generated sociology content, social research analyses, sociological theory applications, demographic interpretations, policy discussions, and trainer/QA submissions to ensure outputs are accurate, nuanced, research-informed, and aligned with project standards.
Your work will directly contribute to improving advanced AI systems by ensuring sociology training data reflects sound social science reasoning, ethical awareness, and methodological rigor.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Monitoring
- Review sociology-related tasks and QA outputs
- Identify recurring quality issues, provide detailed written feedback, and escalate critical quality concerns
Sociology Review
- Review and evaluate sociology explanations, social theory applications, research summaries, social policy analyses, demographic interpretations, cultural analyses, inequality and stratification discussions, social institution evaluations, and community and organizational studies
- Assess work for sociological accuracy, theory application, research literacy, social context awareness, methodological rigor, ethical considerations, bias sensitivity, clarity, instruction adherence, and rubric compliance
Trainer & QA Communication
- Communicate guidelines, workflow changes, quality standards, sociology review expectations, and evaluation criteria
Contributor Support
- Answer questions involving sociological theory, research methods, social institutions, inequality and stratification, culture and identity, demography, social policy, ethics and bias, and rubric interpretation
Activation Management
- Follow up with inactive contributors, track engagement and participation, escalate availability concerns when needed
Documentation & Onboarding
- Create and maintain style guides, documentation, FAQs, quality notes, examples, calibration tasks, and onboarding resources
- Conduct onboarding and training sessions for contributors
Bias & Ethics Review
- Identify and flag unsupported generalizations, stereotyping, stigmatizing language, methodological flaws, weak causal claims, oversimplified social explanations, biased framing, misuse of sociological concepts, and ethically problematic analyses
Process Improvement
- Improve QA workflows and identify recurring quality gaps
- Develop scalable sociology review processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, or equivalent background in Sociology, Social Sciences, Social Research, Demography, Criminology, Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies, Public Policy, Anthropology, or related disciplines
- Strong English communication skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sociology research, teaching, social policy analysis, qualitative research, quantitative research, academic writing, social science review, or community research
- Strong understanding of Sociological Theory, Social Institutions, Inequality, Stratification, Race & Ethnicity, Gender, Class, Culture, Deviance, Organizations, Social Change, Demography, and Research Methods
- Ability to identify unsupported claims, stereotypes, weak causal reasoning, methodological weaknesses, biased framing, and misapplied social theories
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Survey Research, Interviews, Ethnography, Statistical Analysis, Social Policy, Urban Sociology, Family Sociology, Education Research, Health Disparities, Work & Organizations, and Criminology
- Experience with AI Training, Data Annotation, LLM Evaluation, Social Science QA, Academic Review, and Rubric-Based Evaluation
