Mechanical Engineering
Job description
Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and improve cutting-edge AI systems. Your technical knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics to structural mechanics — making a real impact on the future of intelligent systems.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You set your schedule and work on your own terms.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Engineering Problems — Craft challenging, domain-rich problems across areas like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science to stress-test AI reasoning.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation.
- Audit AI-Generated Technical Content — Review AI outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations, and provide structured feedback that improves how the model thinks through engineering problems.
Who You Are
- Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core domains: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
- Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical reasoning clearly in written form
- High attention to detail — precise when checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or technical evaluation workflows
- Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
- Familiarity with how large language models (LLMs) generate and process technical content
Why Join Us
- Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and asynchronous — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
- Contribute to meaningful work that advances how AI handles real-world engineering challenges
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
