This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accountant based in Canada.
This role plays a key part in supporting core financial operations for a dynamic agricultural business environment. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate month-end close activities, financial reconciliations, and timely reporting that supports informed business decision-making. The position works closely with multiple departments, including procurement and operations, to ensure financial integrity across rebate programs and margin analysis. You will contribute to maintaining strong internal controls while also helping resolve financial discrepancies across business functions. The environment is collaborative and fast-paced, with exposure to both operational and strategic finance activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented accounting work while also engaging with cross-functional stakeholders. Accountabilities:
- Prepare month-end journal entries and support timely financial close processes.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Work with procurement and operations teams to ensure accurate accruals and tracking of rebate programs.
- Reconcile rebate payments and receipts while ensuring consistency across financial systems.
- Support monthly reporting cycles, including margin analysis and variance explanations.
- Lead and participate in meetings with internal stakeholders to review financial performance and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain internal controls and support continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Commerce, Business, or Accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a business or corporate environment.
- CPA designation completed or in progress is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards or similar platforms is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while building strong cross-functional relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, self-starting mindset.
