Role Overview

AfterQuery is seeking Excel Experts for a remote, project-based role focused on advanced spreadsheet modeling, business analytics, workflow automation, and data transformation.

This role is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in Microsoft Excel and analytical problem-solving who enjoy building sophisticated spreadsheet systems, dashboards, and financial or operational models across diverse business use cases.

Projects are asynchronous and assigned individually, with flexible scheduling and opportunities to solve meaningful real-world business and data challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain:
• Financial models
• Forecasting tools
• Operational dashboards
• Scenario analysis frameworks
• Design and implement:
• Advanced Excel formulas
• Pivot tables
• Power Query workflows
• VBA and macro automation
• Clean, structure, and transform large datasets for reporting and analysis
• Develop polished Excel dashboards and reports for business stakeholders
• Document:
• Spreadsheet logic
• Assumptions
• Analytical methodologies
• Workflow structures
• Contribute to scalable spreadsheet and reporting solutions across multiple projects

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel including:
• Advanced formulas
• Pivot tables
• Power Query
• VBA/macros
• Proven experience delivering:
• Complex spreadsheet models
• Data tools
• Analytical workflows
• Strong attention to detail and analytical accuracy
• Ability to work independently on technical and business-analysis tasks
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in:
• Finance
• Accounting
• Data Science
• Business
• Mathematics
• Related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with:

• FP&A workflows

Work Details

• Fully remote contractor role
• Flexible asynchronous schedule
• Project-based work over approximately 2–3 weeks
