Role Overview

Mercor is seeking experts in optics and mathematical physics to solve and evaluate multimodal reasoning tasks involving text, equations, ray diagrams, lens and mirror setups, graphs, charts, and scientific imagery.

This role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical reasoning skills and deep understanding of optical systems, wave behavior, and mathematical physics concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve optics and mathematical physics problems using textual and visual information
  • Interpret:
  • Ray diagrams
  • Lens and mirror setups
  • Interference patterns
  • Diffraction setups
  • Graphs and scientific charts
  • Optical equations and visualizations
  • Apply concepts including:
  • Reflection
  • Refraction
  • Snell’s law
  • Lens equations
  • Mirror equations
  • Magnification
  • Interference
  • Diffraction
  • Polarization
  • Evaluate multimodal reasoning outputs generated by AI systems
  • Explain reasoning clearly and verify final answers
  • Identify ambiguous or incomplete scientific problem statements
  • Contribute to improving AI model reasoning in optics and physics domains

Work Details

  • Fully remote contractor role
