Role Overview
Mercor is seeking experts in signals and mechanical engineering to solve and evaluate multimodal reasoning tasks involving text, equations, diagrams, graphs, charts, schematics, and engineering imagery.
This role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical engineering backgrounds and the ability to interpret complex system behavior through both mathematical and visual information.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve signals and mechanical engineering problems using textual and visual information
- Interpret:
- System diagrams
- Signal plots
- Frequency-domain graphs
- Mechanical diagrams
- Free-body diagrams
- Engineering charts and schematics
- Apply concepts including:
- Signal processing
- Fourier transforms
- Laplace transforms
- Dynamics
- Vibrations
- Control systems
- Mechanics
- Mechanical systems analysis
- Evaluate multimodal reasoning outputs generated by AI systems
- Explain reasoning clearly and verify final solutions
- Identify ambiguous or incomplete engineering problem statements
- Contribute to improving AI model reasoning in engineering and signal-processing domains

Work Details
