Role Overview
Mercor is seeking mechanical engineering experts to solve and evaluate multimodal reasoning tasks involving text, equations, diagrams, graphs, CAD-style visuals, charts, and engineering imagery.
This role is ideal for professionals with strong engineering analysis skills and the ability to interpret technical visuals while clearly explaining complex reasoning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve mechanical engineering problems using textual and visual information
- Interpret:
- Free-body diagrams
- System diagrams
- Stress-strain graphs
- Mechanical drawings
- Engineering charts and data visualizations
- Apply concepts including:
- Statics
- Dynamics
- Mechanics of materials
- Thermodynamics
- Fluid mechanics
- Heat transfer
- Vibrations
- Control systems
- Evaluate engineering-focused multimodal reasoning outputs generated by AI systems
- Explain reasoning clearly and verify final solutions
- Identify ambiguous or incomplete engineering problem statements
- Contribute to improving engineering AI model performance and reliability
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong background in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Applied Mathematics
- Physics
- Related engineering disciplines
- Experience with:
- Quantitative engineering analysis
- Technical modeling
- Diagram interpretation
- Engineering calculations
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and problem-solving methodologies
