Role Overview
Mercor is seeking PhD-level Biology Experts with experience applying design, optimization, prediction, and scientific reasoning to biological or chemical systems.
In this role, you will work across experimental and/or computational settings, interpreting complex biological data to guide research and development decisions. You will contribute to projects spanning multi-omics analysis, experimental design, and hypothesis-driven investigation, supporting both discovery and translational efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Analysis
- Work with large-scale biological datasets (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenetics)
- Extract meaningful insights from noisy, high-dimensional data
Reasoning & Scientific Thinking
- Apply strong causal and mechanistic reasoning
- Generate testable hypotheses and evaluate competing explanations
- Synthesize evidence across experiments and datasets
Design, Optimization & Prediction
- Contribute to biological or molecular design (proteins, DNA/RNA, or small molecules)
- Support predictive modeling and optimization workflows
Ideal Qualifications
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biostatistics, chemistry, or related field
- 3–8+ years of relevant research or industry experience
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Experience across data analysis, modeling, and scientific reasoning
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely
