Multilingual Art Expert

1. Role Overview

Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI lab on a large-scale AI training initiative focused on improving visual analysis, artistic interpretation, and creative reasoning capabilities in advanced language models. We’re seeking experienced Art experts to contribute by creating and evaluating art-related prompts and responses.

This is a multilingual opportunity. We are specifically seeking experts who are fluent and actively engaged in one or more of the following languages:

Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi.

Importantly, we are not looking for translation ability alone. Candidates must have deep, sustained engagement with art within their linguistic and cultural context — including familiarity with regional art history, contemporary movements, terminology, critique styles, and artist communities.

This role is ideal for serious art practitioners, critics, historians, curators, or dedicated hobbyists who actively create, study, or analyze art in their language ecosystem.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Author realistic art-related prompts spanning art history, visual analysis, technique, stylistic comparison, critique, and interpretation
• Review and revise AI-generated responses for accuracy, nuance, cultural authenticity, and clarity
• Write high-quality human-authored “gold” responses for complex or interpretive art questions
• Create controlled prompt variations that test subtle differences in artistic style, medium, historical period, or cultural framing
• Evaluate outputs across different lengths, tones, and instruction constraints
• Identify model failure cases involving misattribution, superficial stylistic analysis, cultural inaccuracies, or weak aesthetic reasoning

3. Ideal Qualifications

• 2+ years of sustained, serious engagement with art as a hobby, practice, or scholarly pursuit (e.g., creating art, studying art history, writing critiques, participating in exhibitions or artist communities)
• Active participation in art discourse within at least one of the following languages: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi
• Strong familiarity with artistic terminology, movements, techniques, and culturally specific references in your language context
• Ability to analyze and articulate visual concepts with clarity and nuance
• Excellent written communication skills in the target language
• Ability to work independently and exercise thoughtful editorial judgment

Expected commitment: 10–40 hours per week

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule.
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
