About the Role
We are seeking a Ganita Jyotish (Mathematical Astrology) Expert with strong command of the computational backbone of Jyotish.
In this role, you will create evaluation problems with precise, verifiable numerical answers, including full step-by-step arithmetic and derivations. Your tasks will stress-test AI models on rigorous calculation workflows such as planetary longitude conversions, lagna computation, dasha balances, ashtakavarga tables, and ashtakoot (36-point) matching.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 15–25 calculation-heavy evaluation problems per month with exact numerical ground-truth answers.
- Design problems covering:
- Nirayana longitude computation from Sayana (applying Ayanamsa)
- Lagna (Ascendant) degree calculation from birth data
- Vimshottari and Ashtottari dasha balance computation
- Ashtakavarga bindu tables (Bhinnashtakavarga + Sarvashtakavarga)
- 36-point Guna Milan (Ashtakoot matching) calculations for given pairs
- Shadbala computation for individual planets
- Provide step-by-step mathematical derivations, including formulas, intermediate values, and final answers.
- Create problems across difficulty levels:
- Easy: Single-formula computation
- Medium: Multi-step chained calculations
- Hard: Complex multi-system computations with edge cases
- Verify numerical answers against at least two independent Jyotish software tools.
- Explicitly document assumptions (e.g., ayanamsa value used, year-length convention).
Required Qualifications
- Formal training in Ganita Jyotish (mathematical astrology) or Siddhantic astronomy.
- Ability to compute planetary longitudes using Surya Siddhanta or modern ephemeris methods.
- Mastery of Ashtakavarga computation, including the full 8-planet contribution matrix.
- Proficiency in Ashtakoot Guna Milan scoring across all 8 kootas:
- Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, Nadi
- Including exception rules (e.g., Nadi Dosha exemptions, Bhakoot cancellations).
- Strong numerical accuracy (degree–minute–second arithmetic, modular arithmetic for sign boundaries, time-zone conversions).
- Minimum 3 years of computational Jyotish practice or teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering alongside Jyotish training.
- Experience comparing Krishnamurti vs Lahiri ayanamsa computations.
- Familiarity with astronomical coordinate systems (ecliptic/equatorial/horizon).
- Teaching or exam-setting experience for Jyotish mathematics.
Tools & Technologies
- Jagannatha Hora, Parashara Light, or equivalent Jyotish calculation software.
- Spreadsheet tools (Excel/Google Sheets) for batch verification.
